The Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź was established by three documents: The Decree of Minister of Culture and Art from 1st of February 1946; the Ministers Council Order from 1st of December 1981; The Act from 18th of June 1999, Concerning Changing the Name of The Music Academy in Łódź. The school has a rich cultural programme and conducts intensive research in the sphere of artistic and cultural education. As a cultural institution, the School holds circa 190 – 200 toll-free concerts. The Music Academy in Łódź is also famous for prestigious events, such as: the Kiejstut Bacewicz International Chamber Music Competition, The Grażyna Bacewicz International Composing Competition or International Academic Competition of Oboe and Bassoon Players.
The Music Academy in Łódź is widely known as a prestigious artistic academy reflected in the recent evaluation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The applicant holds many scientific and artistic sessions as well. The Music Academy in Łódź also has outstanding institutional capability for implementation of international cooperation projects. Apart from Rector of the School, chancellor plays the key role in managing and administration of its the estates and finances. Chancellor`s temp acts as financial manager of the school, attending to it’s finances. Subordinate to them is the Dept. of Fundraising. It is responsible for applying for external funds and governing the projects. The staff of the dept. will be part of the Project`s Bureau.
The Music Academy in Łódź receives subvention for ongoing artistic and cultural activity from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The School also receives funds for statute research activity from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The Music Academy in Łódź has extensive experience in organizing international partner cultural events. The School coorganized the Alexander Tansman International Competition of Musical Individuality in 2011 and the Karol Szymanowski International Competition in 2009.
